A huge fan of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, when the idea behind John Cameron Mitchell's Shortbus was featured in the Village Voice, Alexis took notice.  She tracked the project as John was developing the idea and while at Cannes, she discussed the opportunity to work together.  Two years later Alexis had secured the majority of financing for Shortbus and the film went into production.
